Redundant Transformers and Switchgear often contain oil. Upon arrival on our site a trained Sampler drills a sample hole in the lids of the electrical plant containing oil and opens all oil containers on the loaded trailer. The Sampler draws a sample of oil, by syringe, from each item of electrical plant.
A trained Analyst tests each one for PCB content. The analyst records the total PCB for each sample number on 'Oil Sampling Records'. Any items with a result greater than 50mg/kg are marked with the word 'high'. Transformers contaminated with used transformer oil above 500ppm are disposed of at a specialist, approved site, those below 500ppm are disposed of at our own state-of-the-art facility.
The relevant paperwork, ie; Hazardous Waste Consignment Note, Weigh Tickets will be generated and passed on to the driver for transport/completion. The Hazardous Waste Consignment Note will be duly returned to our Head Office for final completion. A disposal/destruction note will be produced by the Waste Disposal Site and forwarded to our Head Office. All records are kept on site.
